Montauk State Park Team Member received the Department of Natural Resources Director’s Award for their time and work in response to the historic flooding at Montauk State Park in November 2024. The team worked nonstop on cleanup of the park in hope of having the park ready to open to the public by March 1, 2025.
The destructive flood deposited debris throughout the park and damaged many structures and roads throughout the park. After recovering items that washed away, including propane tanks and a van, the team spent several months restoring electric and removing debris. Their continued work to survey the damage and determine what measures were required to repair and restore critical components of the park will allow the park to re-open in 2025.
As a recipient of the Director’s Award, the team received a recognition coin, a certificate of appreciation and featured on the MoDNR Weekly Update via Webex on Jan. 9, 2025, MoDNR Weekly News, and on our social media.
Congratulations!
