Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to participate in MO Cred?

Team members in participating agencies will have the opportunity to receive a digital badge through MO Cred. Please use the list at the bottom of this page to find your agency’s MO Cred administrator(s). The Office of Administration, Division of Personnel, oversees the creation and issuing of statewide digital badges. You may contact them at TalentDevelopment@oa.mo.gov.

Where did MO Cred come from?

Through the Quarterly Pulse Survey, team members told us that appreciation needs to be a priority. The launch of MO Cred is one of many new initiatives to increase team member appreciation (another example is  MOAppreciation.mo.gov). MO Cred also allows the State of Missouri to introduce innovative technology to bring team member recognition to a new level, accredit our ongoing training programs, and compete with other industries.

Why digital badging?

Our team members must have the opportunity to share their learning, skills, and achievements in a meaningful way that engages them in today’s virtual world. Digital badging offers an innovative approach to obtain, share, and verify credentials to peers, supervisors, and social media. Through this initiative, you can easily showcase your commitment to professional development, personal growth, and public service.

What other industries use digital badging?

Digital badging has become commonplace across many industries over the last decade. You can now find universities, private sector companies, and all levels of government entities investing in badging software.

How long do I have access to my digital badge?

Access to your digital wallet (where your credentials are stored) is linked to your SSO account. Once you leave State of Missouri employment, you will also lose access to all credentials. Transferring between participating* agencies will not impact your access.

*Missouri Departments of Conservation and Transportation are not participating in MO Cred at this time. Transferring to either department will result in losing access to your digital wallet.

How do I share my digital badge?

From your digital wallet, you can share to various social media sites, add to your email signature, or share your link directly with others.

To access your digital wallet, visit the credentialing homepage for  the department that issued the credential in question. You can find the list of department pages linked above. Once there, select “sign in” from the dropdown menu.

As a team member, am I required to participate in MO Cred?

No. If you earn a digital badge and do not wish to participate, you can disregard the email you received notifying you of the achievement.

How many digital badges can I receive?

There is no limit to the number of digital badges you can receive. You must fulfill a badge’s requirements to have it issued.

There are designated staff to assist you with many digital badging questions, such as those below:

-What digital badges exist?

-Who decides when someone has fulfilled the requirements to earn a digital badge?

-I’m having trouble accessing my digital badge. Who do I contact?

-I completed the posted requirements for a digital badge but have not received it. Who do I contact for help?

-What initiatives will be tied to digital badging?

-I have an idea for a digital badge we can implement. Who do I tell?

*Participating agencies have MO Cred administrators. Please use the list at the bottom of this page to find your agency’s MO Cred administrator(s). The Office of Administration, Division of Personnel, oversees the creation and issuing of statewide digital badges. You may contact them at  TalentDevelopment@oa.mo.gov.

Do team members have to pay to participate in or receive a digital badge through MO Cred?

There is no cost for team members to participate in or receive a digital badge through MO Cred. Team members need to complete posted requirements to obtain individual digital badges.

How long do I need to work for the State of Missouri to be eligible for a digital badge?

There is no tenure requirement to be eligible for MO Cred participation. Team members need to complete posted requirements to obtain individual digital badges.

What is the process of receiving a digital badge?

Once you have completed posted digital badge requirements, the administrator will issue the badge. For statewide initiatives, the badge will be sent within 30 days. For participating agencies, reach out to your point of contact below for their timeline. For all badges, you will receive the credential through your work email address. From there, you will have access to the digital wallet.

To access your digital wallet, visit the credentialing homepage for  the department that issued the credential in question. You can find the list of department pages linked above. Once there, select “sign in” from the dropdown menu.

For statewide badges, the Office of Administration reviews team member eligibility and program requirements on a monthly basis and issues credentials once all criteria have been met.

What is my digital wallet?

Your digital wallet is home to the badges you’ve received from the State of Missouri. From here, you can share your learning, skills, and achievements to social media. The digital wallet serves as a quick, on-the-go means of accessing your badge archive.

Once you’ve receive a digital credential, an email will be sent to you with a link to “view your badge.” This link takes you to your digital badge and wallet. You can bookmark the page to manage and share your credentials in the future.

To access your digital wallet, visit the credentialing homepage for the department that issued the credential  in question. You can find the list of department pages linked above. Once there, select “sign in” from the dropdown menu.

How far back are digital badges being issued for various training opportunities?

Participating agencies are deciding the cut-off date for their own initiatives. For the statewide badges issued by the Office of Administration, credentials tied to digital records will be processed first. All others records and badges will be processed as able. If you have any questions, please contact the appropriate person below.

What training opportunities are being tied to digital badging?

Participating agencies will decide which training opportunities they wish to tie to digital badging. Statewide, the Office of Administration will issue digital badges for White Belt, Yellow Belt, and The Missouri Way.

*Mandatory training (those that are required as part of your role) are not eligible for digital badging. MO Cred only considers training opportunities that are optional and meet specific criteria determined by each agency.

**Additionally, the only training opportunities that an agency may consider are those that were created and facilitated by the State of Missouri. This would exclude, for example, all content made by LinkedIn Learning or other external sources.

If you have any questions, please reach out to the appropriate point of contact below.

I completed a certification or training through an external organization. Will I receive a digital badge for that?

No. The State of Missouri cannot issue digital badges for any certifications or training opportunities that were sponsored by an outside organization. You can contact the organization you received the training from and request a certificate or digital badge, if available. Many professional organizations are issuing digital credentials now.

What happens if I change agencies?

The MO Cred administrator(s) for your new agency can change your email in the system to reflect your current email address. When this is done, your digital wallet will merge previous badges into the new account. To access your digital wallet, visit the credentialing homepage for the department that issued the credential in question. You can find the list of department pages linked above. Once there, select “sign in” from the dropdown menu.

How do I resize my badge to fit in my Outlook email signature?

When a badge image is added to an email signature, Outlook automatically resizes it to be too large. To fix this, follow these steps:

  1. Insert the badge image to your current signature using the signature settings in Outlook.
  2. Save the new signature (with the large image).
  3. Open a new email. You will see your signature with the large image. Here, you can resize the image by dragging the corners. Once you have it appropriately sized, copy your signature.
  4. Return to the Outlook signature settings and edit your current signature. Paste the version you copied earlier and hit save.

State Service Credentials

The Office of Administration distributed state service credentials on June 9th in honor of Team Member Appreciation Month. All data was pulled from the LPROG report on June 1. Years of service were rounded down to the nearest 5-year increment. For example, team members with 27 years of service would have received a 25 year credential. Credentials were only issued to team members with 15 or more years of service, and will only be issued once a year in June.

These credentials DO NOT impact retirement benefits. Receiving a 25-year recognition does not mean you only have 25 years toward retirement as we only rounded down for the credential distribution.

You can compare the credential received to a paper certificate you might be given in the office to commemorate your service. MO Cred is an entirely digital program, so you received digital recognition instead of a paper certificate.
