Crosley Welch

Crosley Welch, an environmental specialist with the department’s Division of Environmental Quality has been recognized with a MoDNR Director’s Award for his time and effort in response to the Critical Mineral Recovery facility fire in October. The fire at the facility resulted in a large smoke plume and fire runoff, which caused both environmental and public concern.

Welch provided excellent coordination and outstanding leadership as an Environmental Emergency Response on-scene coordinator from our Southeast Regional Office. He initially responded to the incident and worked with other responding agencies, including the local fire department, the local health department, EPA and CMR contractors, to help mitigate the impacts in the area.

Welch continues to be involved with the site, acting as the department’s point of contact with CMR, local officials and the general public. He holds weekly meetings to help coordinate the department’s efforts in reviewing information regarding cleanup efforts and then communicates information back to CMR and everyone else involved.

Thank you for your commitment to furthering our department’s mission.
